Mystcraft 0.10.6.00

Post by: on July 29th, 2013 | File Under Mystcraft

OK, so I rewrote part of the grammar’s parsing again. :P
Particularly, I did this to allow me to balance the rules differently. Now the grammar will not change colors or phases or the like that you have written, while still being able to generate its own complex values.
This build also includes a lot of work on bugfixes and other balancing, as well as some new symbols and a system for automatically adding registered fluids as symbols.

Keep in mind that you need link panels to make books! This is for both descriptive and linking books.

To recap: there is only one download (found at the bottom of this post); This file is the universal install for client and server; it no longer goes in the jar.
Mystcraft goes in the mods folder.

If you are having trouble with writing, check out Direwolf20′s Writing tutorial!
Note that there are a couple changes in this release, particularly that colors and things are easier to write. If you follow the tutorial, you’ll be great.

Also, it has been suggested that I provide an optional Adfly link for people. I’ll give it a whirl. Thanks to those who suggested and supported it. :)

Upcoming Release for 1.6.?

Post by: on July 9th, 2013 | File Under Mystcraft

So I got Mystcraft updated to 1.6.1, and then they release 1.6.2. Really, Mojang? :P
I’ll update to 1.6.2 now, and hopefully get a build to my testers before Mojang releases 1.6.3. ;)
In terms of the updates, things went quite well. The Liquids to Fluids transition was actually very smooth (fluid, one could say).
The new Fluids system opens some doors to things I’ve been looking forward to for quite a while. I’ll let you speculate to what all I can do with them. ;)
There were a few gotchas on the update, particularly with how resources are accessed now, but I got most of that sorted out. Fortunately, the only problem at this point is sounds. Hopefully I’ll get those sorted out soon. I know a number of modders were having issues in that department, and there’s not a lot of info on how it’s done now.

On a completely unrelated note, the only donations I’ve gotten recently have been so small that PayPal claimed all of them. PayPal takes 35 cents + some percentage on every transaction. Basically, if you send less than a dollar, PayPal will take most of it, and if you send less than 35 cents you’ve just sent money to PayPal. I appreciate the sentiment and the attempt, but if you are going to donate less than a dollar, just keep your money. It’s sad to tell the only donations I’ve gotten lately to not bother, but it won’t change anything on my end, apparently. No money from donations is no money from donations, doesn’t matter if it’s from no donations or if PayPal takes the few cents you send.
Hopefully I don’t sound bitter about it. :P Just wanted to point this out to the people sending spare change that they’d be better off not wasting it. If you want to donate a few cents I can set up optional adfly links.

At any rate, I’d better get back to work, including updating Mystcraft.
Cheers!

Mystcraft 0.10.5.00

As mentioned in the previous post, I’ve rewritten parts of the grammar system and rebalanced its rules.

I’ve also tweaked generation and fixed a large number of bugs.

As with the previous release, keep in mind that you need link panels to make books! This is for both descriptive and linking books.

Hopefully I will be able to work with Dire to produce a tutorial video for writing for you in the near future. :)

Upcoming Release

Post by: on July 2nd, 2013 | File Under Mystcraft

I’ve been fixing bugs off the tracker and working to balance the grammar system better. It’s an ongoing process, and will require more feedback from you all, but this release should be better.

This release also has at least one new symbol, as well as better balance on a number of generation effects.

I also rewrote most of the parsing for the grammar, so it better understands what you’ve written. This should fix some more advanced issues that could occur with add-ons and will allow me to use more advanced rules in my balancing efforts.
Primarily I’ve been balancing the grammar’s generation rate of a number of things, especially how many things like caves and tendrils appear in ages and the issue with it always adding biomes for the sized biomes.

I’m trying to get a release up as soon as I can. Just getting final checks for stability.
